Questions We've Been Asked About the Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool

The hole in the end of the Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool enlarges with use and then becomes far less functional. Can it be made with a harder, or heat-treated metal?

We have tried harder and heat-treated metals in our prototypes but found that the end of the tool breaks when made of harder metals. The metal has to be flexible to prevent breakage.

We have found that the hole begins to enlarge slightly after the first few wraps, which actually allows the tool to slip more easily over the end of t-post clips. When the tool begins to flare excessively you can cut 1/8" off the end with a hacksaw. We have found that we can wrap a couple of hundred clips before having to cut off the end.

One of our customers recently installed 4000 ft. of barbed wire, 4 strands on 450 t-posts using one Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool. He purchased 2 tools from us at the beginning of his project thinking that one tool would wear out before the fence was finished. When the ends of the tool began to flare and wear excessively he cut 1/4" off of it and finished wrapping the fence using just the one Fence Pro tool.  Read more customer comments

Since the Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool lasts so long is there any reason to buy more than one?

We like to have a Fence Pro tool handy in several different places. We keep one in the toolbox, one in the barn, one in the farm truck and we carry a tool along with us in a pocket when checking the cows. Then it's easy to tighten up any loose t-post clips we might come upon. Of course, once all of your existing fence clips have been replaced with clips wrapped with the Fence Pro T-Post you'll not likely be coming across any more loose clips. But until then it's very handy to have an extra tool to carry in a pocket.

When starting a fence project it's a good idea to have extra Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tools on hand. Should your tool be lost you'll be very unhappy having to go back to wrapping t-post clips with pliers once you've discovered how much faster and easier it is to wrap clips with the Fence Pro tool.

If you're lucky enough to have help putting up your fence, purchasing a tool for each person will shorten fence-building time (saving money if you're paying the help), while keeping everyone happy. One of our customers bought 1 tool for 2 people to share. She wrote us the following: "By the time we were finished my sister and I were almost ready to tattle like 2 year olds on each other because we did not want to share the tool. My only advise to other customers would be, buy two so you don't have to share!"  Read more customer comments

Could you make a slightly shorter version of the Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool for using while clipping woven wire fences or cattle panels?

We are considering offering a shorter clip wrapping tool, but until then you can easily shorten the Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool to your needs with a hacksaw.

Wouldn't a handle provide more leverage when wrapping t-post clips and make it easier to hold onto the Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool?

The Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool actually functions better without a handle.

It's slim design makes the Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool easily maneuverable in places where pliers, hands and handled tools aren't, such as between wire strands or through welded wire and cattle panels.

Wrapping is done by bracing the tool on the fence wire and using the tool's length to provide the torque needed to wrap the clip around the wire (see it in action here). No pressure or squeezing is involved, making it easy on the hands. In fact if you wanted to you could do much of the wrapping with one finger.

The Fence Pro Tool's small size and lack of a handle make it lightweight and convenient to carry in a pants or shirt pocket when checking fences.

Additionally having no handle extends the life of the Fence Pro T-Post Clip because both ends of the tool can be used to wrap clips.

The Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool is so small. Do you have any suggestions for keeping up with it?

We suggest painting the Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool a bright color, such as red, yellow or orange to make it easier to see when dropped in the grass.

Of course, having extras on hand will save a lot of frustration if your Fence Pro T-Post Clip Tool gets lost. Save on shipping with orders of 2 or more.
